Dangerous Goods

Dangerous goods are articles or substances that are capable of posing a significant risk to health, safety or property when transported by air.
Most dangerous goods can be safely transported by air if the risk they pose is reduced to an acceptable level by limiting the quantity per package to an approved quantity, and ensuring that they are properly packaged and handled so that the package will not fail during transit.
Acceptance of dangerous goods by Contay Pars or one of our interline partners is in accordance with the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) Technical Instructions for the Safe Carriage of Dangerous Goods and all applicable domestic and international rules and regulations.
It is the legal responsibility of everyone involved in shipping Dangerous Goods to be aware of and to comply with the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations and the ICAO Technical Instructions for the Safe Carriage of Dangerous Goods.
It is a violation of law to tender cargo containing dangerous goods that have not been properly declared, identified, packaged, marked, labeled, or documented to any airline. Failure to properly identify and tender a dangerous goods shipment is an offence.

Dangerous Goods Indicators

We require our customers to give a complete and accurate description of the goods being shipped. Descriptions that may require more complete information include, but are not limited to: consolidation, household goods, chemicals, cylinders, fuels, laboratory testing equipment, medical supplies, pharmaceuticals and personal effects.
Items that do not have complete descriptions are subject to additional screening. We reserve the right on behalf of ourselves and our interline partners to screen or open and inspect all shipments presented for transportation to ensure that they comply with their description.
We also reserve the right to refuse any shipment that could possibly contain undeclared or improperly prepared Dangerous Goods.

Document, Packaging and Labeling Requirements

Any shipment containing dangerous goods must be packaged, marked and labelled in accordance with the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, and should be accompanied by two copies of a Shipper's Declaration of Dangerous Goods, signed by the shipper.
